Huntapac win the Preedy Glass ‘Longevity’ award at the Red Ribbon Awards 2015

Huntapac Produce is celebrating after being crowned a winner at the sixth annual Red Ribbon Awards, which honour the achievements of Britain’s finest family-run businesses. The Lancashire based company won the Preedy Glass ‘Longevity’ award for its commitment to quality and traditional values for its more than seven decades in business. Following months of searching, interviewing and filming, 11 UK family firms were recognised with one of the most prestigious family business accolades.

With over 3 million family firms in the UK as well as hundreds of entries for the Awards, the winners had to be exceptional. With a heritage that has been passed down through four generations, judges commended Huntapac for “ensuring the business stays a trustworthy and long-standing company.” This accolade comes in a winning year for Huntapac after it was crowned ‘Vegetable Grower of the Year’ at the 2015 UK Growers Awards in February.
Huntapac grows 2,500 acres of root crops and 500 acres of salads and brassicas across the UK each year and sells to a wide range of outlets including wholesale, market and major retailers including Tesco, Waitrose and M&S.

Warren Hunter, Managing Director of Huntapac, said: “We’ve always been passionate about producing the finest crops, it’s something that hasn’t changed since our humble beginnings when we supplied vegetables to local markets.
“The Preedy Glass ‘Longevity’ award is a tribute to the hard work that four generations of the Hunter family has put in for the past 73 years.

“It was wonderful to see so many like minded family businesses come together and gain the recognition they deserve.”

Hosted by Family Business Place, the Red Ribbon Awards took place at the iconic Shakespeare’s Globe in London on Friday 10th July, attended by over 300 guests from family businesses. Amalia Brightley-Gillott, Director of Family Business Place, said: “Family businesses are the lifeblood of the British economy and the beating heart of our local communities, employing one in three people.

“Despite their impressive contribution they are often modest and shy about publicising their achievements and so we founded the Red Ribbon Awards. This year’s winners are a treasure trove of incredible companies who all excel in their field and are true beacons of British commerce.”
